Asif has a 50-50 chance of getting jail-term

Even after Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif`s urine sample tested negative for any drug yesterday, PCB authorities, who are trying their every bit to defend the bowler, are apprehensive that he has only 50 percent chances of escaping punishment, which included jail term.

"After having taken a thorough look at his situation, I believe he has a 50-50 chance of avoiding any punishment," an unidentified PCB official said last evening.

Meanwhile, top PCB officials have been working `behind the scenes` to get Asif off the hook by trying to use their connections in the influential circles in the UAE. But, in spite of all the efforts, the Board official`s admission that a jail-term for Asif remains a possibility comes as a big jolt for the pacer, regarded among the best in the world, reported a newspaper.

However, the official said that the PCB will continue trying its best to get Asif back home. "Our biggest target is to get the player released and bring him back home on the first available flight," the PCB official said.
