Warne: Forget About Me

Australia's leading wicket-taker Shane Warne says it is time Australian cricket forgot about him and found itself a new spin king.

Stuart MacGill's sudden retirement has fuelled speculation the champion leg-spinner could make a return to the Test arena for the 2009 Ashes series.
Warne arrived in Melbourne this week after leading the Rajasthan Royals to the inaugural Indian Premier League title and was quick to downplay the possibility of a comeback.
But the 38-year-old vowed to listen to Ricky Ponting if the Australian skipper sent a desperate call for help to retain the Ashes.
"I'll speak to 'Punter' I suppose but I am very happily retired as I said the other night," Warne said on Thursday morning.
"When I retired it was time to move on," he added.
"Whenever someone retires it opens an opportunity.
"It's time for one of the spinners around Australia to put their hand up and grab their opportunity like the fast bowlers have, like the batsmen have.
"Sometimes when you think there's no-one around someone surprises you.
"I am hoping Beau Casson comes out and takes 10-for in the next Test. It might stop you guys (the press) ringing me everyday saying 'will you come out of retirement?"'
The perceived lack of depth in the nation's spin ranks has led to calls for Warne's return, but the man who claimed 708 Test scalps is confident the situation is not as dire as suggested.
Casson, 25, is poised to make his Test debut against the West Indies in the third and final meeting of the Caribbean series and Warne has high hopes for the left-arm bowler.
"Hopefully Beau Casson in the next Test match can do well and some of these young spinners will do well," Warne said.
"There are a lot of other good spinners; Bryce McGain in Victoria, Cullen Bailey and Dan Cullen in Adelaide, Xavier Doherty in Tasmania."
"We can go around all the states and they've all got some good spinners."
Warne said it was the ideal time to introduce a couple of young slow bowlers into the Australian scene.
"They are playing exceptional cricket, they are playing well, they are beating everybody so it's a good time for a young spinner to be around," Warne said.
"Maybe they can get two or three spinners on the tours and get them around the group, get them hungry and see what it is all about."
