SA captain faces fitness battle

South Africa captain Graeme Smith is a doubt for the start of the forthcoming Test series against England because of a hamstring problem.

Smith suffered the injury while playing for Rajasthan Royals in the semi-finals of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

South Africa begin their tour against Middlesex on 4 July with the first Test starting 10 days later.

"I've got a grade two tear in my hamstring and it looks like I will be out for four weeks," Smith said.

"I'm at a push to make it in time for the first Test at Lord's."
