Three members Apellate Tribunal for Akhtar's hearing


Salman Taseer has resigned as member of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Appellate Tribunal, which had been formed to hear fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar’s appeal against the five-year ban.

Salman was one of the members of the three-man tribunal committee which is and was headed by retired Justice Aftab Farrukh with former Test cricketer Haseeb Ahsan as the third member, but Taseer has expressed his inability to participate in further proceedings of the PCB’s Appellate Tribunal as he had been appointed the governor of Punjab couple of week before.

PCB chairman today during a press conference at NCA said board will announce the third member within two days.

The PCB disciplinary committee headed by retired Lt Gen Muneer Hafeez had imposed the ban on Shoaib on April 1 for breaching the player’s code of conduct when he had been found publicly with criticizing the PCB's policies and calling it double standards after been dropped from the new central contracts in January during his two year probation time period.

However, tribunal had suspended Shoaib's five-year ban for one month to allow him to take part in the Indian Premier League, although the tribunal is scheduled to resume hearing on June 8 which was postponed from June 4.
